Wall Street Journal. August 29, 1997. Op-Ed Column. “Rebuilding a Sense of Community.” This guest editorial identified the new pedestrian-oriented new suburban Town Center/Main Street development trend and its focus on higher-density compact development.

New York Times. February 1, 1995. Op-Ed Column. “Born Again Computers.” This was one of the first pieces to promote the recycling of personal and business computers.

Atlantic Monthly. December 1988. Cover Story. “Los Angeles Comes of Age.” This article (co-authored by Christopher B. Leinberger) discussed Los Angeles’ emergence as a major world city and economic and cultural powerhouse.

Atlantic Monthly. September 1986. Cover Story. “How Business Is Changing America.” Charles Lockwood (with Christopher B. Leinberger) wrote the first national article to identify and discuss the edge city trend.
